What are e-books?

According to wikipedia, an electronic book (also e-book, ebook, digital book) is a text and image-based publication in digital form produced on, published by, and readable on computers or other digital devices

Reasons for use

  • ability to download and have the information read to you through an electronic reading device such as Read and Write Gold
  • students can review the book as often and anywhere they like

Very easy to use.

Resources

  • Tarheelreader - a collection of free, easy-to-read, and accessible books on a wide range of topics. Each book can be speech enabled and accessed using multiple interfaces. The books may be downloaded as slide shows in PowerPoint, Impress, or Flash format.
  • Starfall - an interactive site that K-3 students can use. Goes from basic letter sounds to interactive books.
  • Online stories - read aloud by celebrities
  • Mightybooks - easy to read books online, K-3.
  • Animated mightybooks - online stories read aloud with animations, gr2-4.
  • Overdrive has downloadable audio and e-books from the Stony Plain Library. You must have a Library Card and a computer/ipod touch to use it.
